OVERVIEW

Spheroid is a puzzle game for the Commodore Amiga in which you guide a metal sphere around a maze of tiles towards the exit tile, within a time limit and set number of moves.

The maze is comprised of various hazards and tile types, each having a different effect on the metal sphere.

There are 50 levels to solve.

COMPATIBILITY

Spheroid will run on any OCS/ECS/AGA Amiga with at least 1Mb of RAM and AmigaOS versions 1.2 up to 3.2.

Spheroid can be run directly from floppy disk or installed to hard disk.

The game runs on real (and emulated) PAL machines, but has not been tested on real NTSC machines as I do not have access to any.

GAME FEATURES

  • ray traced loading and ending screens
  • loading, title and ending music
  • four in-game tunes
  • sampled sound effects
  • 50 levels with increasing difficulty
  • passcode system to skip earlier levels

Hey aNDY,

we hope you doing great. I am Areeba Malik (aka Titania) from the BrewOtaku-Team, we are launching our first homebrew gaming magazine soon. We loved your work and we have mentioned your game “Spheroid” in our very first issue.

Please share your contact details if you would like to have a digital copy of our magazine. As we intend to sell the magazine at a very affordable price, you would need to keep it confidential for you only, of course you would get a free copy.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to cover my game, much appreciated! Let me know when you launch and I'll link from my Twitter and Facebook accounts for you!

I'd love a digital copy and of course will not spread. You can contact me direct using:

pixelcomposecode@gmail.com

We just sent you a mail :)

Thanks for the game.  I tried to go to arkanixlabs.com forum but won't allow me to create a new account there. We found 2 issues:

1) I have a NTSC A1200 and when launching the game the graphics are corrupted.   If I have Workbench in PAL and launch, it is also corrupted but then I was able to get normal graphics back by using Amiga-M a few times.   Also noticed in some cases that when going back to workbench (Quit from game), things are stuck but if I use Amiga-M to switch screen I can get back to workbench as though there was some transparent screen in front.

2) When entering a code on the code screen, the numbers/characters can be typed such that you can enter forever and the text printed goes all the way to the the right and wraps back to left side and will draw on top of the next characters.

Thanks for the feedback. much appreciated.

I tested the game as much as I could, but only have access to real PAL Amiga's. I'll put a disclaimer on the game page warning about possible NTSC issues.

I know about the code entering issue as it did happen to me once or twice. However, it didn't happen enough for me to be able to track down why. The way to minimize it is to enter the code, leaving at least a second or two between key presses. I'll look into this further.

Thanks.  I haven't been able to reproduce the entering code issue again either.  If there is anything I can do to help with PAL vs. NTSC, please let me know.

The game definitely gets more challenging and even more fun in later levels.

Yes, the code entering 'bug' was so infrequent, I had trouble nailing it down!  I'll look at the NTSC issue in an emulator and see if I can figure out what is happening.  If I find a fix, I'll give you a shout to test - thanks for the offer of help!

Thanks for taking the time to cover the game, much appreciated! Hopefully you enjoyed it! I'll subscribe to your YouTube channel!

Runs and plays great. And I like it when a game can simply be installed on HD by simply copying the folders. Made a donation. Thank you Andy!

Thanks for the kind words! I *really* appreciate the donation, very kind thank you!

Nice one, thanks Andy! :))

Thanks for taking the time to record a video! Always fascinating to see others play the games I create! Hope you enjoy playing - a little tip, it sometimes helps to repeat out loud the safe tile colours!

Awesome game!

Thanks for the kind comment and for taking the time to make a video, much appreciated!
